I have decided to open this blog as a workshop submission area. In the comments section, you can anonymously submit sentences and/or paragraphs for in-class workshop. Every Tuesday and Thursday, before class starts, I will log into this account and pull up the newly submitted comments. The class will then take part in an open workshop. This is the same basic concept as a Miss Lonely-hearts column. In fact, I want you all to submit in the format of a Miss Lonely-hearts letter.
For instance:
Dear Ms. Lonely-clause,
I have been having trouble with the following sentence/paragraph: "akngodiajgkjnjfjiajkngkjaiodjiji." As a result, I feel as though my relationship with writing has suffered greatly; this sentence has taken over every aspect of my life. I no longer feel like myself anymore. Please help immediately.
Sincerely,
Desperately Fragmented Sentence
The aim of the workshop is to come up with an appropriately constructive reply to the submitter. In other words, the class will actually be a collective Ms. Lonely-clause rather than having me function as a single authoritative replier.
Likewise, the sentence and/or paragraph you submit does not have to be related to a class writing assignment. It can be personal, professional, or school related (it could even be a Facebook post).
